5 Reasons Why Tower Gardens Belong in the Classroom

Tower Garden is famous for allowing homeowners to grow fresh, healthy plants from the comfort of their kitchen, balcony, or anywhere else with an outlet and four square feet of space. However, many don’t realize the role that Tower Gardens play in schools across the country.

There are currently more than 7,500 Tower Gardens being used in schools around the United States today. In fact, these aeroponic gardens can be found in 49 out of 50 states.

Not only do students enjoy interacting with the garden, but teachers also see the positive effects the Tower Garden has on all facets of their education. Stephen Ritz, life-long educator and founder of Green Bronx Machine, states, “I’ve seen Tower Garden expand minds and change lives in classrooms all over the world. Tower Garden helps kids learn math, vocabulary, science, following directions for safety, critical thinking skills, and confidence.”

So, without further ado, here are five reasons why Tower Garden belongs in the classroom.

            1. Environmentally Friendly

Tower Garden grows more with fewer resources. Unlike traditional, soil-based gardening, Tower Garden utilizes aeroponic technology, the same stuff used by NASA. This approach has been shown to increase yields by as much as 30% and triple the speed of plant growth, while using only 10% of the water and space.

            2. Perfect For Indoor Growing

One of the greatest things about Tower Garden is that it can thrive indoors, wherever there’s a power source. Taking up little space, these vertical gardens are perfect for classrooms and can grow year long, right in front of the student’s eyes.

            3. Little Cleanup

Whether it’s kindergartners or high school seniors, traditional gardens are prone to mess when growing inside a classroom. With aeroponic technology, teachers can rest easy knowing that their classroom won’t be soiled (pun intended) by clumsy hands.

            4. Versatile

Classrooms are constantly needing to be rearranged to accommodate teachers’ needs. Luckily Tower Gardens can be moved with ease to make room for whatever might be on the agenda. Tower Garden HOME, our indoor model, comes equipped with built-in wheels, while the Tower Garden FLEX can be enhanced with a dolly for effortless moving.

            5. Perfect for Learning

With Tower Garden, teachers can engage their classroom by incorporating Tower Garden's free, CCSS- and NGSS-aligned lesson plans into their curriculum. Tower Garden can help educate students on plant anatomy, pollination, seed growth, and much more.
